Sending your passwords to and from a website creates a severe dependency on that website and makes it a very hefty target for malicious hackers. A rogue employee or malicious hacker storing and selling passwords is a very real possibility. Additionally if that website goes offline or is brought down by a DOS (Denial of Service) attack, you now have no way of retrieving your passwords. With S3Crypt and your phone you will never be without the ability to recreate your passwords.
Why not use a password manager?
S3Crypt was designed so users would not need to rely on a password manager. What happens if your password manager breaks, or someone hacks into your computer and now has access to your password manager? Not needing to store your passwords is what makes S3Crypt more safe and secure.
What if I need to access a website when I don't have my phone?
This issue is easily solved with any of the following simple solutions:
1. Have your family and friends download S3Crypt so you can use their phone.
2. If you know the websites you will need to access while you are away from your phone, you could write your passwords down and keep them secure. Then when you return, you should destroy them. (Note: never write down your password along with the website your password is for. That way if you accidentally lose it no one will know what it is for.)
Note: It is not a good idea to use a computer you don't trust to access any websites where a username and password is required. Public computers are not safe for this.

S3Crypt generates passwords with 18 characters in length.
